The day after JFK was assassinated, a British Sci-fi
program started that was going to last a mere six
weeks. It lasted 25 years!!! The show was
called DR Who.

The main character, the Doctor, was an alien who
traveled through time in his faithful craft the
Tardis. Tardis T.A.R.D.I.S spelt Time and Relative
Dimensions in Space. In reality this meant the
Doctors Time machine was bigger on the inside
than on the outside.

The Doctor was able to regenerate in to a new body
when he died. This was handy for the producers
of the show as the lead actor could be replaced
if he wanted to leave or was kicked out.

In total seven actors played the role with an eighth
taking on the role for a one off made for TV Movie.
The famous star of many Horror Movies, Peter
Cushing also took on the role in both of the film
versions in the mid 1960's.

The Doctor would have with him one or more
companions or Assistants to accompany him
on his travels through time. He battled with
aliens, megalomaniacs and hostile worlds but
always won through in the end!
